To say the opening of the new Azzedine Alaïa store in Bond Street is long awaited would be an understatement. The late couturier was a fashion legend who dominated the fashion world for three decades wowing generation after generation of fans with the beautiful elegance and simplicity of his garments. Already the subject of a massive exhibition of his work at the Design Museum, Alaïa shows that even though he has passed on his classic designs will live forever.
The store is rumoured to stretch over three floors and cover 6,000 square feet with the company allegedly £1,500 a square metre.
The company behind the brand – Compagnie Financière Richemont – has two other boutiques in Paris and a list of fans including Naomi CAmpbell, Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga, Gwyneth Paltrow and Victoria Beckham.
No exact date has been given for the launch.
