London’s now annual celebration of queer cinema is back this spring as The BFI Flare London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival returns to the capital from the 16th to the 27th of March 2022.
The event is now the biggest LGBTQIA+ Film Festival in Europe with tens of thousands of film goers regularly attended the festival and a host of famous names releasing movies to coincide with the event.
The BFI cinema on the Southbank plays host to the festival again this year with the cinema set to showcase another impressive selection of films showcasing the breadth and depth of the LGBTQ+ experience around the globe.
Six world premieres, fifty-six features and eighty-four shorts from forty-two countries are at the heart of this year’s event, with a selection of the titles being made available digitally on the BFI Player.
Highlights of the festival include the UK premiere of Alli Haapasalo’s award-winning coming-of-age drama Girl Picture, the world premiere of Kevin Hegge’s feature documentary TRAMPS and Saeed Gholipour’s documentary This Is Not Me. Other films to watch out for at the festival include Director Marnie Baxter’s Do This For Me and Ravenna Tran’s And Then, te touching story of two young women falling in love.
