Just when you thought that there were quite enough music festivals in London, All Points East comes along and you wonder how we ever coped without it. The event, now in its second year, is organised by the man behind Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time Hyde Park, Jim King.
This year the festival will run over two weekends in late May with a smaller “community focused” mid-week event, In the Neighbourhood, in between.
King, the executive vice president of live music at AEG Presents, says he was keen to tap into the energy, creativity and positivity of East London for the new festival and the executive has chosen Victoria Park to give the festival a local flavour.
Forty Five year-old King has a wealth of festival planning experience, beginning with Creamfields in 1998, before moving on to the more established Bestival and the aforementioned British Summertime.
The new festival has certainly managed to attract a stellar line up of guests with Primal Scream, The Strokes, Christine and the Queens, The Chemical Brothers and Mumford & Sons all lined up to perform.
A particular highlight of this year’s event will undoubtedly be the All Points East debut of indie sensation Jade Bird. Bird will be making her bow at the festival on Saturday the 1st of June 2019, supporting Mumford & Sons. The acclaimed singer will be showcasing tracks from her upcoming album as well as her impressive back catalogue.
The organisers have said that more acts will be announced soon.
The All Points East Festival runs from the 24th of May until the 2nd of June 2019.
