Being a modern day Londoner is tough. With an almost unlimited choice of restaurants and bars to choose from, not to mention countless new venues opening every week, it is a difficult job deciding where to go and what to eat. Fortunately, that’s where Taste of London comes in.
The London food festival, now in its 17th year, is the definitive showcase of the capital’s best food & drink with many of the city’s top restaurants taking part.
While details of this year’s event have not yet been released, last year’s event gave visitors a chance to sample signature dishes from over 40 of the capital’s best restaurants including Barrafina, Ikoyi, Duddell’s, Club Mexicana and Cinnamon Bizaar.
Chefs on the menu included Vivek Singh from Cinnamon Bizaar, Pascal Aussignac from Club Gascon, Dean Parker from Sorella, Meriel Armitage from Club Mexicana and Angel Zapata Martin from Barrafina.
However, the centrepiece of the event was undoubtedly the Fire Pit Stage which enabled festival-goers to watch some smoking hot demonstrations of open flame cooking. The darling of the Great Scotland Yard hotel’s Eckstedt at the Yard, Niklas Ekstedt, was on hand to show off his prowess in the area, as were the likes of Josh Katz of Berber & Q, Pip Lacey of Hicce and David Carter of Smokestak.
Other notable events included a champagne masterclass with Laurent-Perrier, a Producer’s Market with more than 200 artisan food & drink purveyors and The Taste Residence, a separate enclosed area within the festival which served up bespoke 4-course tasting menus paired with wine and cocktails.
Taste of London 2022 will take place between the 7th and the 11th and the 14th and the 18th of July 2022. More information about the festival can be found here.
