If you’ve grown bored of the bog standard high street Christmas decorations and you are yearning for something a bit more bespoke and original, then maybe this new winter festival at the ever wonderful Chiswick House and Gardens is for you.
The event, After Dark, gives visitors a chance to see the stunning 18th century house and gardens in a whole new light (literally). The grounds of the estate will come magically alive with a spectacular projected light show for what should be a memorable month of events.
Visitors will be invited to walk a trail that winds lazily through the grounds of the estate. On the way they’ll encounter a series of dazzling lighting set pieces and effects. The whole thing will be set to a soundtrack of “curated music”.
The man behind the event is lighting and visual artist Nick Gray who has previously worked with the Prodigy, Calvin Harris and London Fashion Week. The light installations will be accompanied by a series of temporary sculptors by edgy modern artist Finn Thomson.
Gray is a leading light (sorry) in the London creative design practice Renegade, and the artist has a history of creating breathtaking lighting installations including a 90 metre long light sculpture which was installed in the entrance of the Exhibition Centre at Earl’s Court.
Stroll through the illuminated grounds with family, friends, loved ones (even dogs are welcome!) before heading to the walled garden where food and drink stalls will be waiting to tickle your taste-buds.
Then, once you’ve completed the trail, you’ll be able to tuck into a dizzying selection of food and drink options from a variety of specially selected pop ups in the walled garden.
After Dark will run from the 15th to the 30th of November from Thursday to Sunday.
