Legendary rockers Duran Duran are to celebrate their 42nd year in the industry by playing a gig at BST Hyde Park 2022. The gig, which was postponed from last summer, will see the 80s supergroup play their first London show in seven years.
The 2022 show will prove third time lucky for the Birmingham rockers, who have been lined up to play at the Hyde Park festival in 2020 and 2021. Both of those gigs were cancelled due to the pandemic but the organisers of the festival are hopeful that the band’s 2022 gig will go ahead.
The announcement of the cancellation of the 2021 festival was made in an Instagram post to festival goers in March 2021. It read:

Duran Duran lead singer was clearing buzzing at the thought of finally playing Hyde Park: “I look at film of the Rolling Stones at Hyde Park back in ’69 and think of all the great acts who’ve performed there since,” he said. “It really is an honour to add the name Duran Duran to that roster, and to play our music at one of the world’s greatest inner city locations at BST Hyde Park.”

In total, Duran Duran have now sold over 100 million records, with an incredible 21 UK Top 20 hits and 18 US hit singles to their name. This list includes two British Number Ones and a Bond theme (A View To A Kill).
They have also written and performed a song for a James Bond movie, as well as winning a host of awards, including two Grammies, two Brit awards and several Ivor Novello awards.

Although the exact line up for 2022’s event has not been announced, it is expected that many of the performers booked to play at the 2021 festival will return for this year’s event. This list includes Nile Rodgers & Chic, Grace Jones and Little Mix.
