It seems like not a day goes by without a new drive in cinema announcing plans to open in London. At this rate, by the end of the year, the capital will be one large outdoor cinema – forcing us locals to up sticks and move to the countryside.
Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration, but London is certainly seeing a dramatic increase in the venues right now. The latest company to announce plans to open in London is Sunset Cinema. The company will open its doors (do drive in cinemas have doors?) on the 4th of July for a strictly limited three week run in the capital.
As with many of the new arrivals, Sunset are playing it fairly safe, film wise, with a carefully curated list of blockbusters. Titles include The Wolf Of Wall Street, La La Land, The Joker and Bohemian Rhapsody on the programme.
The full programme of films is as follows:
5 July 8.30pm Rocketman
8 July 8.30pm La La Land
9 July 8.30pm Pulp Fiction
10 July 8pm Dirty Dancing
11 July 8.30pm Mama Mia
12 July 8pm Grease
15 July 8pm Joker
16 July 8pm Star Is Born
18 July 8pm The Great Gatsby
19 July 8pm Knives Out
22 July 8pm Django Unchained
23 July 8pm Back To The Future
24 July 8pm Space Jam
25 July 8pm Wolf Of Wall Street
The food will come from comfort food kings Dirty Bones. The NYC inspired foodies will be serving up a tantalising range of burgers, as well as shakes and cocktails – so you certainly won’t go hungry.
The cinema will be covid secure with all food preo-ordered and a two metre space between each vehicle.
Sunset Cinema will be at Twyford Avenue Sports Ground, Acton from the 4th to the 25th of July 2020. There is a charge of £30 per vehicle plus a £10 charge for each person in the car.
