In a move that will almost certainly prove impossible to keep secret, the UK’s favourite immersive cinema company are opening a drive in.

In conjunction with ice cream company Haagen Dazs, The Drive In from Secret Cinema will see the innovative film group screen an array of blockbusters starting in early July.

“Secret Cinema allows people to escape reality through the magic and wonder of iconic and beloved films, and this is just what people need right now” said the CEO of Secret Cinema, Max Alexander.

Goodwood race track is the venue for what will surely prove to be (if we know Secret Cinema) one of the summer’s most memorable events.

The track, nicknamed Glorious Goodwood by racing aficionados, is more famous for motor racing, however, this summer the legendary venue will be sending hearts racing by transforming into a cinema.

And not just any cinema. How could it possibly be with immersive cinema legends Secret Cinema running the show?

The list of films might sound familiar but that’s where the similarity to other cinemas stops with The Drive In.

Secret Cinema are promising a pre-movie live experience centring around Frankie and Johnny Starlight – the fictional owners of the drive in.

The duo will host a 30-minute pre-screening performance via portable JBL speakers inside each car, which will include film inspired tunes, a variety of games and “the chance for momentary fame via a Zoom competition, projected on to the cinema screen, to find the most on-theme car”.

Films will include The Incredibles, Mary Poppins Returns, Toy Story, Moulin Rouge, Knives Out, Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, Dirty Dancing, The Hunger Games and  Reservoir Dogs.

There will be an array of diner style food and drinks, with orders delivered to your car, and Haagen Dazs will be on hand to ensure that no one goes short of ice cream.

Admission is charged on a per vehicle basis with a fee of £50 per car. Tickets for the first two weeks of events will go on sale from the Secret Cinema website on the 22nd of June at 10am BST.

The Drive In from Secret Cinema begins on the 5th of July. More information about the event can be found here.
