With escape rooms popping up on an almost daily rate in the capital, it takes something truly extraordinary to stand out from the crowd. Fortunately, that’s exactly what the people behind the Crystal Maze are planning with their latest offering, Judge Dredd Uprising: The Live Experience.
Set to open in the summer of 2021, the attraction is part escape room, part live theatre. Based around a dystopian vision of the near future, Uprising will offer multiple zones, live action, team and solo play, and a combination of mental and physical challenges.
The action is set in the fictitious metropolis of Brit-Cit. The city is divided into five zones with recreations of Piccadilly Circus, the Old Bailey, and other icons of the city.
This is not the London we know and love, however. Bandits, mutants, and robots roam the city, and it’s left to Judge Dredd to protect the town.
Uncovering a dastardly plot to attack the capital, Dredd is keen to enlist your help in protecting the metropolis. However, it’s up to you. Will you choose to help save the city or turn rogue and join the bad guys?
Tom Lionetti-Maguire, Founder and CEO of the company behind the experience, Little Lion, says: “This new show is insanely exciting. The experience is part comic book, part sci-fi film, part immersive theatre, part escape room, part action adventure and part indoor theme park – all wrapped into one. Judge Dredd’s mega-cities are a wild, prophetic, and very funny world of future crime, surreal action, and crazed citizens – and now you can experience that world for yourself. It’s time to choose your side.”
Little Lion have taken inspiration for their new attraction from the satirical comic book series Judge Dredd, having worked with the producers of the books on the new experience. The company are best known for their Crystal Maze Live experience. The 6 million pound attraction took its cue from the TV show of the same name, offering players a live action version of the show in a massive West End venue.
Judge Dredd Uprising will open in early 2021. More information about the attraction can be found here.
