It just wouldn’t be winter in London these days if there weren’t igloos by the banks of the Thames. The cosy pods have become a familiar sight on both sides of the river in recent years, and 2020 will be no exception with Jimmy Garcia’s Lodge on the River set to open in early October.
Igloos apart, the venue will boast an upstairs dining room called The Refuge, a wooden cabin overlooking the Thames, and an Alpine Bar serving a range of hot wines, cocktails, and spirits.
In addition to this, the grab and go Lodge Grill will sell a range of festive street food, including Venison Hot Dogs and Raclette Burgers. It’s the igloos that will undoubtedly attract the most attention, however. The pods have been phenomenally popular since they first began gracing the river in 2010 and it’s not hard to see why. The enclosures offer breathtaking views of the river, are cosy and warm and are the perfect location for a romantic dinner or a group get together.
And this year, the igloos are even better as guests will not only be able to choose the food and drink, but thanks to a clever speaker system, they’ll also be able to choose their own music!
And the menu doesn’t look half bad, either. French onion soup, smoked duck breast, home-cured salmon and Garcia’s Special Fondue are all on the menu this winter at the Lodge on the River.
Jimmy Garcia’s Lodge on the River will open on the 9th of November and run until the 5th of January 2021. More information about the pop up can be found here.
