Described as an “exhilarating dive into the world of international finance”, BBC2’s Industry looks set to lift the lid on the dog eat dog world of the financial sector when it debuts later this year.
The show, which has been described as a mix of the Wolf of Wall Street and Melrose Place, will follow a group of ambitious young graduates as they compete for jobs within a top investment bank in the city of London.
With issues of race, class, and privilege to the fore, the series will uncover the harsh realities of the financial industry and the struggles of those who work within it.
Here’s everything you need to know about the BBC2 series:
What is Industry about?
Industry tells the story of a group of ‘aspiring young bankers’ from their graduation ceremonies right up to them landing jobs with a top London investment house.
The series follows the “five impressionable young minds” as they attempt to navigate an industry where “meritocracy is promised but hierarchy is king”.
Set during the global financial crisis of 2008, the show documents the group’s struggles with sex, drugs, and relationships, as they all the while attempt to battle their way to the top of the industry.
“The boundaries between colleague, friend, lover, and enemy soon blur as the five immerse themselves in a company culture defined as much by sex, drugs, and ego as it is by deals and dividends. As members of the group rise and fall, they must decide whether life is about more than the bottom line” says the BBC website about the show.

The show reads like a who’s who of hot young British actors with David Jonsson (Deep State), Nabhaan Rizwan (Informer), Harry Lawtey, Myha’la Herrold, Marisa Abela (Cobra) and Freya Mavor (Skins).
