Laura Weiland is one talented lady. Not content with consistently wowing the fashion world with her clothes, the designer has now launched a second collection of furniture with high end furniture household retailer Habitat.
Shrimps X Habitat has utilised the signature doodles, playful prints, and warm pastel colours that made her first collection with Habitat such a success but added a much more retro vibe to the mix. Taking its inspiration from 1970s Palm Springs, the collection features a palette of sunshine yellow, vanilla cream and sage green with tasteful dollops of soft pink and sky blue.
For her second collaboration with the acclaimed furniture retailer, Weiland has moved beyond textiles and embraced furniture and lighting too. Shrimps X Habitat contains a selection of stylish rattan chairs, solid oak cabinets and a variety of lighting fixtures. The whole thing is done with Weiland’s now signature playful style.
The designer had this to say about her latest collaboration with the store: “ I’ve long been a fan of Habitat and its design ethos – like Shrimps it has a bit of fun with design but in a sophisticated way. It’s confident with its use of colour and pattern and isn’t afraid to push boundaries to create unique products, which I like”.
Weiland has a background in Textile Design with a diploma from the London College of Fashion. After graduating from the Kensington based college, the designer launched her own label, Shrimps, in the summer of 2013. With an emphasis on cruelty free textiles and with faux fur to the fore, Shrimps’ clever mix of patterns and textures soon earned the designer an engaged and dedicated following. Now, with her second furniture collection with Habitat, the lady is branching out again.
