Wembley Park’s popular Winterfest light festival is back! After debuting to positive reviews in 2019 and taking a break in 2020 (due to the pandemic) the festival is returning to North West London in November.
The theme of this year’s event is ‘Reunited By Light’, with the organisers hoping that the festival can inspire a sense of optimism and hope in all who visit the attraction.
One of the highlights of this year’s event is the Reflections Of The Future installation. A 100m long work which will light up Wembley’s famous Olympic Way, the work will feature a sequence of mirrored LEDS posts that will allow visitors to see multiple, distorted versions of themselves and others, creating “a strong sense of togetherness, even for people attending on their own” according to the Winterfest website.
Another highlight of the event will be ‘City Lights’. A popular attraction at the 2019 festival, the installation features London’s tallest ever LED Christmas tree – standing an impressive 25-metres tall together with a brand-new digital artwork ‘City Lights’, commissioned by Brent artist Yoni Alter.
Winterfest 2021 is not just about lights, however. This year’s festival will also see the launch of Olympic Way’s permanent free outdoor photo gallery.
“Featuring 12 UK-based photographers, ranging from recent graduates to award-winning artists, the moving photographs will remind visitors of the power of people pulling together and will display uplifting and vibrant scenes of togetherness, tenderness, and intimacy” says the Wembley Park website about the new attraction.
Wembley Park’s Winterfest is shaping up to be one of the festive season’s most unmissable events. With a breathtaking array of light installations and a heartwarming message of optimism and hope, the festival looks like the perfect way to end this most challenging of years.
Winterfest Festival 2021 will be at Wembley Park from Thursday the 24th of November 2021 until Sunday the 9th of January 2022 . More information can be found here.
