We don’t want to make this any more stressful than it already is, but this year’s round of Christmas shopping might be the most important you ever do. Not only can you support the retail industry during its toughest crisis for a quarter of a century, but with a little research and planning you can also support several other needy sectors too.
You can start with your Christmas Tree. London based Green Elf Trees provides a range of sustainably sourced trees while supporting out of work musicians and charities at the same time. Created by the team behind PlantSavers, the initiative aims to provide job opportunities for members of the entertainment industry whose employment has been affected by the pandemic.
The musicians are given PPE & relevant training and then they are tasked with delivering and picking up the trees. And just to make the deal even sweeter for all involved, each Christmas Tree comes with a link to a playlist containing a selection of songs recorded by the musicians delivering the trees. In addition, for each tree ordered, Green Elf will donate £3 to a charity of the customer’s choice (either Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, Shelter or Dogs Trust).
There are two types of tree to choose from – a Nordmann Fir (large) starting at £49.99 and a Fraser Fir (slim) starting at £34.99. The company also sell a range of miniature table trees, decorations, and lights.
The company are serious about sustainability too, so they only sell real trees (as artificial trees have a much higher carbon footprint), they provide pots if you would like to maintain your tree throughout the year; and they only source trees from local areas to minimise the environmental cost of transportation. The company also offer a ‘Responsible Tree Removal Service’ to ensure that the trees are being disposed of properly.
So, if you buy from Green Elf, not only will your tree be delivered by a potential future pop star, but you will be supporting the entertainment industry too!
