There’s going to be an extra Bank Holiday in 2022 for the Queen’s 70th anniversary

A weekend of street parties awaits as the Queen racks up another milestone. Peter Gray reports.

The summer of 2022 may seem like a long way off, but at least one Londoner is already making plans for it. That famous Londoner is the Queen, offcourse, and those plans involve Her Majesty’s platinum anniversary  celebrations.

A ‘once in a generaton show’ staged over one incredible weekend, the event promises to be one of the most exciting royal events that the capital has ever seen.  And just to make sure that everyone is in the mood to celebrate, the government have announced that the country will have a special four day Bank Holiday weekend. This will be achieved by moving the May Bank Holiday to June 2, and adding an additional Bank Holiday on the 3rd  of June.

So, whether you fancy celebrating with Liz and Phil, or you’re just itching for a long weekend somewhere else -the summer of 2022 looks likes it’s going to be a great one.
