Designers Against Inequality Virtual Auction

Make a profit from your pre-loved garments and support a worthy cause at the same time. What's not to love? Peter Gray reports.

city:countdown are big fans of the Rites website and as such we were incredibly interested to learn about the resale platform’s forthcoming Designers Against Inequality Virtual Auction.

The event will take place on Saturday the 12th of December 2020 and all of the proceeds from the sale will go to the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust.

A host of famous designers have donated items for the auction including the likes of Molly Goddard, Stella McCartney, Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, Shrimps and more.

The Rites website gives users a chance to sell their ‘pre-loved pieces’ while raising money for worthy causes at the same time.

Users simply arrange for Rites to collect their unwanted garments and set a level of donations to their charity of choice. Rites takes care of everything else, including photographing the clothes, uploading the photos and information on the garments to the site and arranging sales.

Users can get back up to 80% of the sale price of each item, or if they are feeling generous, they can donate the total proceeds of the sale to charity.

The platform accepts pre-loved items from established brands along with contemporary pieces by up and coming fashion houses, however, the items must be in a saleable condition.

The Designers Against Inequality Virtual Auction will be taking place between 10am and 8pm on the 12th of December 2020. More information about the event can be found here.
