Promising more twists than a drag queen’s wig, Death Drop is a brand new comedy featuring RuPaul’s Drag Race superstars Courtney Act and Monét X Change.
A West End first for its all drag performer cast, the new production bills itself as a ‘hilarious murder mystery like nothing you’ve ever seen before’.
A group of guests have gathered together on Tuck Island for the soirée to beat all others. Tensions rise, however, when guests suddenly start being bumped off in bizarre circumstances and the remaining guests begin to reveal their dubious pasts.
Naturally, this is the cue for much finger pointing and speculation until the final climatic moments of the play, when the who-dunnit is solved and the killer revealed.
Alongside Act and Monet X Change, Death Drop features drag queen Anna Phylactic as the Newspaper editor Morgan Pierce, Kemah Bob as Phil Maker and Vinegar Strokes as the waffling Lady Von Fistenberg. The cast also includes LoUis CYpher as a Conservative MP.
The early reviews of Death Drop have been positive with Paul Davies (British Theatre) describing the play as “Camp as Christmas and as fierce as a July heatwave” and Brian Logan from The Guardian describing the production as “murder most rollicking”. Shakespeare it certainly isn’t, however, but if you have ever watched an Agatha Christie movie – then this cheeky spin on the Christie:s works (Dragatha Christie?!) might be just what the doctor ordered.
Expect twists, turns, and barrel loads of belly laughs.
Death Drop at the Garrick Theatre is currently suspended due to the Coronavirus Crisis. More information about the production can be found here.
