It really does our heart good these days to write about something that won’t fall victim to the government’s four tier Pandemic Management System.
Fortunately, such is the case with the Southbank Centre’s Winter Light Festival. This outdoor exhibition is reassuringly pandemic proof which means it will continue…whatever the Coronavirus Crisis throws at us.
Running from the 20th of November 2020 until the 28th of February 2021, the festival showcases a series of outdoor artworks across the Southbank Centre site.
The artworks in the festival all take their inspiration from the ‘poetics of space’ and explore light’s ability to transform our physical spaces. Featuring 15 artworks and new commissions, the pieces have been installed on the various Southbank centre buildings on the riverfront.
Artists featured in the exhibition include Simeon Barclay, David Batchelor, James Clar, Shezad Dawood, Kota Ezawa, Navine G. Khan-Dossos, Suzie Larke, Teemu Määttänen, Tala Madani, Tatsuo Miyajima, Louiza Ntourou, David Ogle, Katie Paterson, Jini Reddy, Martin Richman, Tavares Strachan, Pamela Phatsimo Sunstrum, Emma Talbot and Toby Ziegler.
