The Burberry Autumn/Winter 2021 Pre-Collection gives us a tiny taster of what we can expect from the fashion house this year, with the brand continuing its celebration of nature while also exploring traditional British dress codes from a fresh perspective.
‘This is my uniform for the outdoors” says Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer Riccardo Tisci. “My love for all the contrasting elements of nature has been explored and reflected throughout this collection, combining the romance and beauty of nature with utility and practicality”.
Camouflage prints, romantic florals and references to the animal kingdom dominate a collection which is underpinned by structural tailoring. “This collection is about mirroring the natural environments within its dynamic prints, colours and textures” says Tisci about the inspiration for the Burberry’s latest pre-collection, which comes hot on the heels of a spate of releases for the brand’s future archive series.
Yet again, however, at the heart of everything in the new collection is Burberry’s continued veneration of the outdoors and outdoor living. The connection has been at the heart of the brand since Thomas Burberry first established his business in the 1850s, and it has survived into the 21st century, even within Tisci’s reimagined Burberry.
“Riccardo continues to celebrate this story through juxtapositions: camouflage over trench coats and mesh bodysuits, as well as floral prints applied to field jackets, cargo trousers, short-sleeve shirts and jogging pants” says a press release accompanying images of the new collection.
The Burberry Autumn/Winter 2021 Pre-Collection offers us an exciting glimpse of what’s in store for the brand in 2021. In a collection which pays homage to the past yet also embraces the future, the fashion house never lose sight of what makes the brand so very special: beautifully tailored clothes that allow the wearer to get closer to nature.
