With a distressingly high numbers of restaurants going out of business during the pandemic, it makes a refreshing change to talk about a venue which is yet to open its doors.
Fenn Restaurant comes from the creative minds behind Hackney’s Nest: Toby Neil, Johnnie Crowe and Luke Wasserman. Forced to close the highly rated Harlequin restaurant due to the pandemic, the team are now preparing to open Fenn on the same site.
Joe Laker (Anglo) has been brought in to head up the kitchen at the new eaterie, with the chef bringing with him a wealth of experience from his time at Anglo.
Locally sourced seasonal British dishes will be the order of the day at the new restaurant with the Chief’s menu including the likes of Lincolnshire Poacher Dumplings & Fenn Fried Chicken, Confit Duck Egg Yolk & Wild Mushroom, Hand Dived Scallop & Roast Chicken Butter and Beef, Parsnip & Pickled Walnut.
The A La Carte Menu, meanwhile, will offer up Oysters (served with lemon, pickled shallot & Fenn Tabasco), Beef Tartare (with Fermented Chilli & Smoked Oil), Halibut and Pork Belly.
And for those with a sweet tooth, dessert options will include a Nutmeg Custard Tart, Spiced Apple Crumble and Salted Caramel Ice Cream.
The drinks list will be curated by Wasserman himself with the restaurateur promising a tantalising selection of sustainable wines and seasonal cocktails.
With regards to interiors, the venue won’t be too different from Harlequin, save for the inclusion of a hand-carved ash wood table and a greater emphasis on art (with a revolving selection of pieces by local artists).
Fenn restaurant opens on the 2nd of March 2021 at 194 Wandsworth Bridge Road. More information about the venue can be found here.
