Westin London City

Peter Gray looks at one of the most eagerly awaited London hotel launches of 2021: Westin London City.

With a prime riverfront location and a host of top class facilities, the Westin London City looks set to wow guests when it opens in 2021.

The hotel, which is a key part of the redevelopment of the former Queensbridge House site, will boast 220 guest rooms at launch, including ten suites and a heavenly sounding Presidential Suite.

The emphasis will be very much on health and relaxation at the venue, with the king size swimming pool augmented by a 4036 square foot spa and a fitness studio with state-of-the-art TRX exercise equipment.

The hotel’s RunWESTIN programme, meanwhile, will offer guests a selection of three or five mile jogging routes along the riverfront with guests able to hire sportswear from the hotel’s Gear Lending initiative.

If that wasn’t enough, the Westin will also boast a Junior Ballroom, four meeting rooms, and a 24-hour business centre.

The first hotel in the Westin chain to open in the UK, the venue is owned by the 4C Hotel who already own several leading hotels around the globe.

Senior Vice President & Global Brand Leader, Westin Hotels & Resorts, Brian Povinelli, was quick to emphasis the chain’s focus on creating a healthy environment for guests at the new venue.

“Transforming the way travellers experience wellness continues to be a powerful proposition for Westin, and one that has become increasingly important as people integrate well-being more holistically into their lifestyle,” he said in a press release.

“We are thrilled to not only debut the brand in London, but also to open this marquee hotel on the iconic River Thames.”

To emphasis the hotel’s focus on nature, meanwhile, the venue’s interiors will have “a fluid and sculptural, biophilic-focus, suggesting that a connection to nature enhances well-being”.

British architects Dexter Moren Associates have been commissioned to work on the venue’s interiors with an emphasis on creating stylish and functional living spaces.

Guests will enter the hotel into an ‘airy yet residential’ atrium like space which will then give way to a bar and restaurant.

This space will be coupled with a Riverside walkway offering breathtaking views of Shakespeare Globe and the Southbank.
