Marvel’s Helstrom

Disney's Helstrom transports its audience back to the Marvel universe. Peter Gray reports.

If you’re hunting for your Marvel fix, then you could do a whole lot worse than tuning into Disney’s Helstrom when it lands on the platform this February.

Designed to kick start a new era of small screen depictions of Marvel universe stories, Helstrom has instead found itself the final release from the now defunct Marvel TV.

This doesn’t mean it’s not any good, however. The show may trade the high energy thrills of the cinematic Marvel series for a more sedate pace and a higher horror content, but Helstrom will certainly find favour with those who like to see the Marvel series take chances.

Helstrom tells the story of siblings Daimon and Ana, the grown up children of serial killer Marduk Helstrom and his wife Victoria.

Rejecting their father’s evil past, the pair set out to track down wrong doers and rid the world of evil instead.

Here’s everything you need to know about Marvel’s Helstrom.

What is Marvel’s Helstrom about?

The show introduces us to twins Daimon and Ana Helstrom. Daimon works as a college professor while Ana spends her days working as an antique dealer.

In their spare time, however, the pair spend their most of their time trying to make the world a better place.

Ana uses her psychic abilities to tracking down criminals, while Daimon uses his knowledge of the spirit world to try to banish demons from the realm of the living.

All the while the twins’ past threatens to return to haunt them. Their father Marduk was a demonic serial killer and their mother, Victoria, is in a mental asylum where she claims to be possessed by an evil spirit named Mother.

When this demon suddenly grows more powerful and threatens to engulf the world, Ana and Daimon are reunited to fight back.

Who’s starring in Helstrom?

Tom Austen plays the role of Daimon Helstrom in the series. Helstrom discovered his demonic powers during his schooldays when several of his classmates attempted to bully him because of his family.

Cornered, Helstrom had suddenly found the strength to throw the boys across the room before setting fire to a backpack.

Since then, he has managed to keep his super powers under wraps while working as a teacher in a local college.

Sydney Lemmon takes the role of his sister Ana. Traumatized by her father as a child, Helstrom is driven to rid the world of those like him.

Elizabeth Marvel (Homeland) stars as the pair’s possessed mother, Victoria, while Robert Wisdom (Watchmen) plays the role of the Caretaker.

Is there a trailer for Helstrom?
