The Kaleidoscope Festival

Finsbury Park's Kaleidoscope Festival promises a thrilling mix of music, comedy and live entertainment. Peter Gray reports.

The Kaleidoscope Festival is back this summer with another world class selection of music, comedy and entertainment. Returning to North London’s Alexander Palace, the organisers of the festival are once again promising a ‘world where music, performance, theatre and comedy embrace in a collision of beautiful noise, brilliant ideas and brazen colour.’

If that sounds intriguing then the line-up of artists sounds no less so, with Groove Armada, The Coral and Norman Jay MBE all scheduled to rock this particular corner of north London.

The stars of the show will undoubtedly be Groove Armada. One of the planet’s best loved and biggest selling dance acts, the group will be showcasing a cross section of their biggest hits as well as a selection of lesser known tracks from their eight studio albums.

Also in the line-up are The Coral. The award-winning group behind such memorable tracks as “Dreaming of You” and “Pass It On”, the band are veterans of the UK gig circuit with a compelling and energetic stage presence. The group will be showcasing songs from their latest album, the critically acclaimed ‘Move Through the Dawn’.

It’s an impressive line-up and the musical guests will be augmented by a fascinating mix of live theatre, theatrics and comedy, with the comedy offering including the likes of Irvine Welsh, Jayde Adams, Phil Wang and Sophie Duker. There will also be a range of street food stalls and bars.

The festival is also incredibly family friendly, with everything from a pop up theatre, face painting, storytelling and magic workshops to keep the kids entertained.
