With the demand for festival tickets at an all time high right now, could there possibly be a better time to launch a new music event in London?

Crystal Palace’s South Facing Festival is certainly about to find out. The event, which consists of 12 headline shows plus a midweek community initiative, will launch at Crystal Palace Park this August with the likes of Dizzee Rascal, The Streets and the English National Opera set to perform live.

The last two names on that list will give you some idea of how eclectic the event is. Rascal will perform with the 20-piece drum’n’bass heavy Outlook Orchestra on the 14th of August while the English National Opera will perform their acclaimed version of Tosca on the 27th & 29th of August. Sandwiched in between them will be Supergrass (20th August), The Streets (21st August) and Max Richter (28th August).

The festival comes from the same people who brought us Field Day and Cross The Tracks with the co founder of the former, Marcus Weedon, taking the role of director of the new festival.

He said: “After what’s been an extremely difficult 12 months for the live music industry, we can’t wait to put on a fantastic series of events that people can really get excited about.

Not only do we have some amazing artists who are itching to put on a great show, we also have the privilege of being able to stage the festival at an iconic and important outdoor London venue, which has sadly been dormant in recent years. We’re all working incredibly hard to make sure South Facing is a fitting return to glory for the Crystal Palace Bowl!”

So, whether you’re a fan of drum & bass, pop, rock or even opera, Crystal Palace looks like the place to be this summer.

The South Facing Festival will take place between Thursday the 5th of August and Tuesday the 21st of August 2021. More information about the festival can be found here.

Tickets for the festival go on sale on the 16th of March 2021 with early bird tickets priced at £35. Tickets for the festival can be purchased here.
