Field Day

Field Day is back in 2021 with a superb new line up and a welcome return home. Peter Gray reports.

After a couple of away days and a break for the pandemic, Field Day is back in its spiritual home of Victoria Park for 2021. The one day festival moved to Brockwell Park in 2018 and then on to Enfield’s Meridian Water in 2019. However, Field Day veterans will be delighted to see the event return to East London in 2021, for what is shaping up to be a real banger.

London based dance duo BICEP will headline this year’s event, which will take place over the August bank holiday weekend.

Having recently released their second album, Isles, the duo are riding high, with the album having receiving rave reviews from critics with Alexis Petridis from The Guardian calling the collection the ‘ultimate living room rave’.

Other acts confirmed for the festival include Floating Points, Ross From Friends and Overmono, with DJ sets from Mount Kimbie, Maribou State, The Blessed Madonna, Mall Grab, Special Request, Josey Rebelle,  Jungle, Artwork and many more.

Since its launch in 2007, Field Day has witnessed a series of incredible performances from artists  like PJ Harvey, James Blake, Skepta, Jorja Smith and Erykah Badu.

And while the event took a break in 2020 due to the pandemic, the 2021 edition of the festival is shaping up to be the best one yet.

Field Day co-owner Gareth Cooper says, “We couldn’t be more excited to be bringing Field Day back to its spiritual home of Victoria Park, where it all started 14 years ago. We are going to deliver the best day out of the summer, in one of London’s best parks, with an amazing crowd, a top top music lineup led from the front by the brilliant Bicep. It’s gonna be ace. We cannot wait to partner up with APE on presenting this show and provide some hope and excitement to finish off what’s been an awful 12 months. The future starts today!”
