With a design inspired by the area’s heritage, the five star Peninsula hotel is set to open in Knightsbridge in 2023. Owned by the influential Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels group, the Peninsula is aiming to set new standards for luxury and elegance.
It’s a big boast but the group behind the hotel has certainly got the pedigree to pull it off. Indeed, the company’s flagship, the Peninsula Hotel, Hong Kong, is widely regarded as one of the best in the world, with a reputation for luxury that is unparalleled in the region.

Known locally as the “Grande Dame of the East” the Hong Kong branch of the Peninsula chain has regularly featured on television and in films, with 1974’s Bond movie, The Man With The Golden Gun, the most notable example.
For the company’s first UK branch, the group have secured a prestigious location on Grosvenor Place. The venue is close to the glamourous department stores of Knightsbridge and also a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace, with the palace gardens visible from several of the hotel’s bedrooms.

The Peninsula, Knightsbridge, will reflect the distinctive heritage and grandeur of Belgravia with a ‘stately entrance’ and a colonnaded courtyard lobby.
The hotel, which will house 190 rooms and 28 residential apartments, will also play host to a spa, ballroom, several destination restaurants and a one storey shopping arcade!

The Peninsula Spa will provide a range of revitalising wellness and beauty treatments for those looking to unwind, while the ballroom will play host to ‘London’s most glamourous events’.
Meanwhile, for those who love to shop, the one-storey shopping arcade will play host to over 1,100 square metres of retail space with nine stores selling a range of international luxury brands.

With the opening of the Peninsula Hotel, Knightsbridge will have an even greater claim on being the luxury hotel centre of the world. The area already boasts several of the best hotels in the world, including The Lanesborough, The Four Seasons, The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park and the stunning Berkeley. Which should mean that The Peninsula is in very good company when it opens in 2022.
