Maya Restaurant opens at the Hoxton

The East London hotel has got in on the rooftop dining craze with an exciting new Mexican inspired venue, Maya Restaurant. Peter Gray reports.

2021 is the year of the Great British Al Fresco Summer (weather permitting, of course) and the Hoxton, Shoreditch is the latest venue to get in on the action with the opening of a fabulous new rooftop eaterie, Maya restaurant.

The venue is headed up by Executive Chef Giacomo Pettinari, who has amassed a wealth of culinary experience while working in a variety of kitchens in LA.

At Maya, Pettinari will focus on coastal Baja Mexican food, with the menu featuring a mixture of tacos and small plates. The tacos options include Calabacitas with squash blossom, crema, pico de gallo; Baja Cod with little gem, chipotle mayo & salsa verde and Chicken Tinga with refried beans, avocado and pico de gallo.

The small plates, meanwhile, include Enchiladas with king oyster mushroom; Diablos Chicken; Seabass a la Talla and Rib Eye Asado.

Maya has been a massive hit in the US where it originally began life as a pop up at Soho House, West Hollywood. The chain now have eateries at several other Soho House branches around the world, including Ludlow House and Soho House, Berlin.

So, of you fancy some to die 4 Mexican cuisine this summer not to mention some breathtaking views of London – Shoreditch is very definitely the place to be!
