Booking Office 1869

Following a tenth anniversary revamp, the Renaissance Hotel's stylish bar is all set to wow visitors once again. Peter Gray reports.

Patrick Powell (Allegra) heads up a new team at revamped bar/eaterie, Booking Office 1869, this October. The chef, who previously worked at the acclaimed Marylebone restaurant, Chiltern Firehouse, oversaw the opening of the popular Stratford eaterie, receiving numerous plaudits for his work there.

For Booking Office 1869, Powell has curated an exciting new menu which includes fried chicken with yoghurt & lime; barbecued carrots with braised grains & yoghurt; monkfish & potato curry with spinach; slow-roasted lamb shoulder with chermoula spices, brioche doughnut with caramelised apple & burnt cinnamon cream, and blackberry trifle.

The drinks menu, meanwhile, sees Bar Manager Jack Porter taking inspiration from the Victorian period with a series of cocktails which ‘incorporate Victorian materials’. There’s the Ol’ Signalman, with its mix of Pecan Nut Infused Bourbon, Cocchi Rosa and Coconut Bitters; the Victoria Sour (Barsol Pisco, long pepper spice & plum syrup), a House Martini (Hepple Gin, dry vermouth organic beeswax & black olive) and the Clear Margarita (a blend of agave, citrus & salt).

And to ensure you have enough time to relax and enjoy the ambience, the venue will have a 12am closing time on weeknights stretching to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
