Prima Facie

The Harold Pinter Theatre is the venue for Comer's theatre debut. Peter Gray reports.

Killing Eve star Jodie Comer is set to make her West End debut next spring in Suzie Miller’s hot new play, Prima Facie. The actress, who recently won a BAFTA award for her role as Villanelle in the BBC series, will play Tessa in the new production, which tells the story of a brilliant young barrister who loves to win.

“Tessa is a thoroughbred” says the synopsis for the show on the Prima Facie website. “She has worked her way up from working class origins to be at the top of her game; defending; cross examining and lighting up the shadows of doubt in any case. An unexpected event forces her to confront the lines where the patriarchal power of the law, burden of proof and morals diverge.”

The script for the new production has been written by Australian-British playwright Suzie Miller. The writer has a master’s degree in Theatre & Film and previously won the Australian Writers’ Guild and Kit Denton Fellowship for Writing with Courage. Prima Facie marks Miller’s West End debut.

The Harold Pinter theatre will be conducting a ‘Pay What You Can’ scheme during the play’s run, with theatre goers encouraged to pay what they can afford in order to ensure that everyone who wants to see the play gets a chance to do so.

Prima Facie will run from the 15th of April until the 18th of June 2022 at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London. More information about the production can be found here.
