180 Studios is fast making a name for itself with its bold programme of events and its latest exhibition, Lux – New Wave of Contemporary Art, looks certain to add to the hype around the gallery.
For their latest exhibition, the brutalist gallery have teamed up with the SUUM project for a collection of art installations which in the words of the gallery: ‘expand the boundaries of interactive, immersive art, blurring the lines between the physical and virtual world.’ That may sound like a bit of a mouthful, but what we can say for certain is that Lux is one of the most visually thrilling exhibitions of the year and the perfect setting for those who like to record their visits for the ‘gram or Tik Tok.
The second in the LG OLED ART SELF-LIT GALLERY series, the exhibition showcases work from such innovative artists as Cao Yuxi; ES Devlin, iart; Je Baak; a’strict; Universal Everything; Refik Anadol; Cecilia Bengolea; Julianknxx; Carsten Nicolai; Random International and Hito Steyerl.
Thirteen large-scale installations are featured in total, which all focus on the latest audio visual technologies and the creatives who are harnessing them to produce the next generation of art works.
So, if you want to see the most cutting edge audio visual based art, Lux should be at the top of your list.
LUX – New Wave of Contemporary Art is on between the 13th of October and the 18th of December 2021 at the 180 Studios on The Strand. More information about the exhibition can be found here.
