As cosy and comforting as a roaring fire on a cold winter’s day, Ronan Keating’s Heyday oozes nearly as much charm as the great man himself.
The first single from Keating’s Songs From Home album, Heyday is both mellow and tuneful, with a great vocal by Keating and an anthemic chorus that will stay in your head for weeks.

A cover of the late Mic Christopher classic, Heyday is a real family affair for Keating with the singer’s wife Storm on backing vocals and father Gerry in the accompanying video.
Lyrically, the song is both playfully obscure and yet strangely meaningful at the same time. Here’s a sample of the lyrics:
‘For the sun, for the light
For the ride and for the masters
Oh, we come, to be kind
To be warm here and after’

Heyday tells the story of a couple striving to live their best lives, every single day. The song was based on Christopher’s observation that people generally used the term heyday to refer to some real or imagined golden past. However, the singer felt that people should endeavour to live their best days every day of their life. Heyday was the result. Here is the chorus:
“This is our heyday baby
We’re not gonna be afraid to shout
‘Cause we can make our heyday last forever
Ain’t that what it’s all about.”

Songs From Home will see Keating sampling a variety of classic tracks from his native land with covers of Damien Rice’s The Blower’s Daughter and guest inclusions from U2 and Ash.
“This album toasts Ronan Keating’s love for Irish music, as well as its continued significance in his life. Celebrating traditional poetry and folklore alongside contemporary pieces, Songs From Home forms the ultimate soundtrack to Ronan’s personal story’ says Keating’s record label Decca Records of the release.
