Immersive film legends Secret Cinema have teamed up with Sony for a spectacular new virtual experience based on the movie Ghostbusters. Ghostbusters: The Gates of Gozer will open in early December 2021 with the action set to take place online.

That may be the case but Secret Cinema are promising that the event will have just as much attention to detail as one of the company’s legendary in person events, with live actors, special effects, interactive games, motion triggered filters, 3D sound and even a possession or two!

The new experience is set one year after the events depicted in the original Ghostbusters movie with would be ghost hunters offered the opportunity to enrol at the Paranormal Institute for a series of training sessions from the Ghostbusters themselves.

And once the training ends, the new recruits will be let loose on the haunted streets of New York and challenged to use their skills on a range of spooky phenomena.

The world needs saving and you’re the one for the job! Immersive theatre. 3D binaural sound. Real ghostbusting” the description continues.

“Ghostbusters has been entertaining audiences for almost four decades and ‘Ghostbusters: The Gates of Gozer’ will allow fans to engage with some of the much-loved characters and storylines in a way they have never before.”

Although this winter’s event is taking place online, Secret Cinema have also opened a waiting list for a forthcoming in-person experience. Although no date has been given for the event, it will probably take place at some point in 2022.
