“Discover what lies behind the minds of the two revolutionary Mexican painters as you walk through their art: see their world, their life, their dreams, and everything that influenced them, surrounding you in a flurry of sound and colour” says the Fever website about the forthcoming event.

Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera are two of the most iconic artists to come out of Mexico in the last one hundred years. The couple, who continued a tempestuous relationship for many years, were part of a movement in Mexican art which looked longingly at the past for inspiration and transformation.

Nicknamed ‘the elephant’ and the dove’ by her parents, the duo undoubtedly made an unlikely pair, however, their love for each other proved long lasting with the older Riviera proving to be a muse for the younger and more impressionable Kahlo.

Despite a fleeting acquaintance when she was just seventeen and he thirty seven, it was not until several years later that the pair would be reunited in Mexico City where they would marry in 1929. Thus began a cycle of fights, extra-marital affairs and anguish which would eventually lead to their divorce in 1939. The pair were no more successful at divorce, however, and a year later they were remarried.
